Senj is the centre of a region covering more than 650 km 2 and encompassing numerous small towns and villages dotted along the shore at the foot of Mount Velebit (Sv. Juraj, Lukovo, Klada, Starigrad, Jablanac, Stinica and Prizna) or higher up in the mountains of Velebit and Kapela (Krasno, Krivi Put, Stolac, Vratnik and Senjska Draga). The region’s areas of natural heritage preservation are the Velebit Nature Park and Croatia’s youngest national park – Northern Velebit. Senj je središte područja koje obuhvaća preko 650 km 2 , s brojnim malim mjestima smještenima uz more u podvelebitskom primorju: Sv. Juraj, Lukovo, Klada, Starigrad, Jablanac, Stinica i Prizna, ili u planinskim visovima Velebita i Kapele: Krasno, Krivi Put, Stolac, Vratnik i Senjska Draga. Prirodna baština zaštićena je u Parku prirode Velebit i najmlađem hrvatskom nacionalnom parku – Sjevernom Velebitu.
