THE ORIGINAL
About 5,000 years ago, a small caterpil-
lar started to write COCOON
®
history:
the silkworm, the larva of the silkworm
moth, builds a cocoon for pupation
from a filament that is up to 900 me-
tres long. It is performing the heaviest
work in the process as it needs to wrap
itself up with up to 300,000 loops.
We have taken this method as a model
for the production of our COCOON
®
luminaires. COCOON
®
a unique special
formula licensed by EGLO from which
an extremely resilient and elastic mate-
rial is produced. Models of any kind
can be covered with a diaphragm. The
variety of shapes allows almost infinite
possibilities, and only the sky is the
limit in terms of designer creativity.

die Seidenraupe, die Larve des Seidenspin-
ners, baut sich zur Verpuppung einen Ko-
kon aus einem einzigen bis zu 900 Meter
langen Faden. Sie leistet dabei Schwerstar-
beit, muss sie doch bis zu 300.000 Schlau-
fen um sich herum legen.
Zur Produktion unserer COCOON
®
Leuch-
ten haben wir uns dieses Verfahren zum
Vorbild genommen. Als COCOON
®
wird
eine von EGLO lizenzierte und einzigarti-
ge Spezial-Rezeptur bezeichnet, mit der
ein extrem belastbares und elastisches
Material hergestellt wird. Modelle jeglicher
Art können mit einer Membran bespannt
werden. Die Formenvielfalt ist somit schier
unendlich und der Kreativität der Designer
sind keine Grenzen gesetzt.
Un petit ver écrivait l'histoire COCOON
®
il y a env. 5000 ans : le ver à soie, la larve
du tisseur de soie se construit un cocon à
partir d'une seul fil pouvant atteindre 900
mètres pour se transformer en chrysalide.
C'est un travail laborieux car elle doit
enrouler le fil jusqu'à 300 000 fois autour
d'elle.

nous nous sommes basés sur cette façon
de faire. COCOON
®
désigne un procédé
spécial et unique breveté par EGLO qui
permet de fabriquer un matériau extrême-
ment résistant et élastique. Tous les types
de modèles peuvent être recouverts d'une
membrane. La diversité des formes est
donc infinie et les designers peuvent laisser
libre cours à leur créativité.
