TPU membrana tkaninu čini vodootpornu, dišnu, izolira te štiti protiv vremenskih nepogoda (kiše, snijega, vjetra) prilikom svakodnevnih aktivnosti. Oznaka “ mm “ - jedinica mjere koja pokazuje otpornost tkanine na vodu, a dobivena je vodostatičnim testom. Radi se o direktnoj izloženosti materijala vodi, gdje se u periodu od 24 sata mjeri otpornost materijala na utjecaj vode. Broj 8000 mm označava najviši stupanj vode koju materijal može podnijeti da ne dođe do premočenja. Oznaka “ mvp “ – jedinica mjere koja pokazuje zrakopropusnost tkanine. Računa se pomoću količine kapljica znoja koju tkanina propušta kroz svoju membranu. Visoki stupanj propusnosti esencijalan je za efektivnu termalnu regulaciju.
